UCCE 23rd Annual Strawberry Production Meeting 

The 23rd Annual Strawberry Production Meeting, hosted by University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE), was recently held in Ventura. In-person and online attendees were given updates on the latest research through presentations on pest management, plant-disease management and water management.

Presentations are available for those who missed the meeting, including:

• Cultivar development and breeding for resistance to soil-borne pathogens – Mitchell J. Feldmann, Allison Krill Brown – UC Davis  

• Fusarium wilt in strawberry: races and implications for management – Peter Henry, USDA-ARS.  

• Powdery mildew and miticide trials in Ventura County -Oleg Daugovish, UCCE Ventura. 

• Assessing Drip Irrigation as an Alternative to Micro-Sprinklers During Strawberry Establishment – Andre Biscaro, UCCE Ventura.    

• Lygus bug management update – Mark Bolda, UCCE Santa Cruz  

• Resistance monitoring and miticide efficacy for two-spotted spider mite in strawberry – Colin Koubek, Cal Poly Strawberry Center.  

• Fungicide efficacy and resistance in the top 10 Fungicide for Botrytis – Kyle Blauer and Gerald Holmes, Cal Poly Strawberry Center 

Last month’s meeting also coincided with the release of UCCE’s 2023-2024 Annual Report.
