According to the California Strawberry Commission, the number of Latinos leading the strawberry farming industry is growing.

Latinos make up more than ⅔ of strawberry growers in California and 25% of them started out as field workers, the Commission reports.

Mayra Paniagua grew up around strawberries. Now, owning her own farm in Santa Maria, she is achieving a dream she once didn’t think was possible.

The new Benefits of the California Strawberry Commission report takes a deep dive into the programs and resources of the CSC including Grower Services, Research, Public Policy, Communications and Market Insights. In addition, it includes the findings from a recent study that focused on how the health of the strawberry industry was from 2019-2023 and what the CSC did during that time for both payers and the industry in general.
